🇬🇧 St Andrews is known worldwide as the historic "home of golf" with its famous the Old Course. The 2-mile-long West Sands Beach served as the set for the opening scene in the movie Chariots of Fire. The town is proud of its University, the oldest university in Scotland, the third oldest in United Kingdom, and ranked as the third best university in UK, behind Oxford and Cambridge. The most famous student was Prince William. Here, it has begun the love story of Kate and Prince William. 

However, St Andrews is also known for the distilling and brewing history. The passion and art of distilling and brewing you can discover visiting the Eden Mill, the Scotland’s first single-site distillery and brewery, where are made beer, whisky and gin. Here, you can learn some secrets of the Eden Mill, taking a part in the whisky as well as in the gin distillery tours.

My choice of the day is Original Eden Mill St Andrews Gin. A classic London Dry with a St Andrews interpretation. Unfortunately, my first attempt to try the Original Gin failed. The Bottle, which i wanted proudly to present at home, was completely broken in my checkin luggage on a flight back home. The whole luggage and my clothes were full of gin aromas, and I couldn't even tasted it. Than came the second chance, friend of mine surprised me on my birthday with this gorgeous Original Eden Mill St Andrews Gin directly from Scotland. It was great evening! 

The key botanical of the Original Gin is seabuckthorn berries, a "superfood"! The gin is balanced with citrus elements, lemon balm and citrus peel. In nose strong aroma of lemon peel. Hint of pink grapefruit. Spice of coriander. Sweet lychee. The taste leaves flavours of juniper and dried bitter notes of seabuckthorn and cranberry. The finish with smooth orange notes. Perfect with a pink grapefruit and Premium Tonic. A perfectly sociable gin to enjoy outdoors with friends and family.

🇵🇱 St Andrews jest znane przede wszystkim jako historyczne miejsce "narodzin golfa" z jego najstarszym na świecie polem golfowym "Old Course". Dwu milowa piaszczysta plaża West Sands Beach posłużyła jako sceneria do filmu "Rydwany ognia". W czasie drugej wojny światowej, tutaj stacjonowały jednostki Pierwszego Korpusu Polski pod dowództwem generała Władysława Sikorskiego. Ale to nie wszystko, St Andrews może pochwalić się najstarszym Uniwersytetem w Szkocji (rok zalożenia ok 1410), trzecim najstarszym Uniwersytetem w Wielkiej Brytanii, i przy tym trzecim najlepszym w całym UK uniwerkiem po Oxfordzie i Cambridge. Jego chyba nasławniejszym studentem był Książe William. To tutaj zaczęła się love story panny Kate i księcia. 

Jednakże, St Andrews to również historia destylacji trunków i warzenia piwa. Odwiedzając destylarnię Eden Mill, możesz poznać ludzi z pasją, opowiadających o historii miejsca i sekretach destylacji ich wyśmienitych trunków. Mój dzisiejszy wybór to butelka ginu Original Eden Mill St Andrews. Klasyczny London Dry Gin w nowej interpretacji prosto z St Andrews. Niestety, moja pierwsza próba degustacji ginu to tylko zachwycanie się aromatami... Butelka, którą z dumą chciałam zaprezentować w domu, roztrzaskała się w moim bagażu w locie powrotnym do domu. Druga szansa przyleciała prosto ze Szkocji, moja przyjaciółka zrobiła mi niespodziankę na urodziny i sprezentowała butelkę ginu Original Eden Mill St Andrews. To był naprawdę miły wieczór. 

Kluczowym składnikiem ginu są jagody rokitnika, "superfood" jak to dzisiaj się określa. Harmonijnie zbalansowany dodatkiem melisy i cytrusowej skórki. Aromaty to gra wstępna cytrusowych elementów, grejpfruta, kolendry i słodkiej liczi. Smak pozostawia niezapomniane nutki jałowca i suszonych jagód rokitnika i żurawiny. Końcówka lekka w pomarańczowych nutkach. Perfekcyjny przy wieczornym grillowaniu z kostkami lodu, plasterkiem różowego grejpfruta i tonikiem...
